A market-leading Specialist Insurance Company is looking to appoint a Senior Technical Underwriter to support the continued growth and development of their Commercial Underwriting team.
Reporting to the Head of Underwriting, the Senior Technical Underwriter will play a key in underwriting larger and more complex property and liability risks.
Responsibilities will include:
- Delivering both new business and renewalgrowth plans by focusing on larger and more complex Property and Liability risks that fall outside the existing Underwriting model.
- Working closely with Key Account Managers and the Underwriting team to grow and manage broker relations.
- Act as a technical referral point for less experienced colleagues and cascade technical expertise to other parts of the business.
- Proactively identify areas of opportunity for product development, making recommendations to the Head of Underwriting, and contributing to improvement of existing schemes.
- Support the Head of Underwriting with governance, insurer relations, training, and other ad hoc tasks.
Key skills/experience required:
- Extensive Commercial Property or Liability underwriting experience.
- Previous experience working for or with MGAs would be beneficial.
- Experience of Delegated Authority and/or Treaty binders.
- In-depth knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
- Ability to communicate complex issues in a concise way.
Salary/Benefits Information:
- Salary up to £60,000 depending on experience.
